Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Electrical Safety Training Panel

LearnLab’s Basic VFD Training System is a complete hands-on electrical safety and motor control training panel designed to teach students and workers how to install, operate, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). Also known as Adjustable-Frequency Drives (AFD), Variable-Speed Drives (VSD), or Inverter Drives, this system provides real-world experience controlling and diagnosing three-phase motor circuits safely and effectively.

Overview

This training system simulates real industrial conditions using safe low-voltage components. Students complete multiple circuits, identify faults, and repair real VFD control issues while learning to use test meters and diagnostic instruments properly. The system operates on standard 120V power — no three-phase supply required.

What’s Included

  • Industrial GS10 Variable Frequency Drive Unit
  • Industrial panel indicators
  • Ice cube control relays
  • Industrial stop/start push-button controls
  • Selector switches
  • Three-phase induction motor (wye wound)
  • Rheostat control (0–10V & 5–20mA)
  • Student workbook with labs (PDF)
  • Instructor’s notebook (PDF)
  • PowerPoint presentation and handouts
  • Online companion course
  • Up to 16 classroom hours of curriculum

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand how VFDs control three-phase motor speed and torque
  • Wire and configure AC drive components safely
  • Diagnose common VFD and motor control failures
  • Apply electrical safety principles when working with drives
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting with standard electrical instruments

LearnLab’s VFD Electrical Safety Training Panel bridges the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. It’s ideal for teaching automation, motor control, and electrical troubleshooting in manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering programs.

LearnLab Training Systems are essential for hands-on electrical training. Train one or multiple workers simultaneously in a controlled, safety-compliant learning environment.
